The pastor shall be in charge of the spiritual welfare and oversight of the church. He shall lead the church in bringing the lost to Jesus Christ and in nurturing the believers. He shall proclaim the gospel and teach the Biblical revelations. He shall provide leadership in equipping members in pastoral ministries and in achieving the mission of the church. He shall also:
be an ex-officio member of all church organizations and committees
conduct counseling sessions
conduct funerals
cooperate with associational, state, and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern
keep the church informed of denominational development
lead in observance of ordinances
lead the church in an effective program of witnessing and in a caring ministry for persons in the church and community
perform wedding ceremonies
plan and conduct the worship services
prepare and deliver sermons
provide in cooperation with the deacons, for pulpit supply in his absence and for ministers and outside workers to assist in revival or special services
represent the church in civic matters
serve as administrator and supervise the paid staff
serve as Chairman of the Church Council
visit members and prospects
work with deacons, church officers, and committees as they perform their assigned responsibilities
In cooperation with the membership committee, the pastor shall:
recommend a candidate for full membership to the church
orient new members to the conditions and requirements of full membership and to the policies of the church
consider the individual circumstances of a candidate for membership who is physically prevented from fulfilling the requirements of baptism by immersion
counsel persons awaiting baptism for a lengthy period
The pastor also may:
call special meetings of the church, of the deacons, or of any committee
